What is included in Honda Sensing ™ technologies?

Honda Sensing driver-assistance safety technology

What features are included in Honda Sensing technologies? If your Honda vehicle comes with Honda Sensing, that means it will have driver-assistance safety technology to help you out on the roads. Below, we have more information on some of the features that are considered Honda Sensing.

List of Honda Sensing technologies

Honda Sensing technologies may differ from vehicle to vehicle. Also, Honda Sensing technologies may get added to as time goes on. Here are some examples of currently available Honda Sensing technology:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) system
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System ™ (CMBS ®)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system

Honda Sensing technology – Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control, which you may also call smart cruise control or advanced cruise control, is a version of cruise control that minimizes your need to brake. It follows the example of the car ahead of you, without going over your pre-set speed. Thus, if the car in front of you brakes, so does your Honda.

Low-speed follow refers to the system’s ability to slow down and maintain a lower speed when needed. If traffic slows down around you, the system can adjust itself. This adds a whole new level of convenience to cruise control.

Honda Sensing technology – warning and braking systems

Other than ACC, most of the features of Honda Sensing are either warnings or driver-assist systems. Warnings can usually be set to audio or visual warnings. In many cases you may choose to have both, for a more effective warning.

The sensors on your Honda vehicle must stay clean and clear of debris in order to work properly. If you take proper care of your Honda vehicle, then you can expect to enjoy your Honda Sensing features and the security that comes with them. Braking systems will kick in when warnings are ignored and only when they are necessary to prevent or slow down a collision.
