When should I switch my Honda vehicle to summer tires in St. John’s, NL?

Summer tires and all-season tires explained

With the weather warming up, you may be wondering when exactly a good time is to switch your Honda vehicle from winter tires to summer tires. On the other hand, you may be considering all-season tires. We want to explain the difference to you and help you decide when to make the switch. Read on below to learn about changing out your tires in St. John’s, NL.

Do my Honda vehicle tires need to be a certain size?

Summer tires for Honda vehicles

What are summer tires?

Summer tires, which you may have known as performance tires, are tires that are optimal for warmer weather. As you know, summer driving is much different than winter driving, and that also affects your tires. The surface of the road changes, as does the air temperature, which can change air pressure as well.

When should I be using summer tires?

Switching between summer and winter tires is usually done in fall and spring, although late is better than never. Summer tires are not good for snow and should be switched out before the first snowfall. In spring, switch back to your summer tires after the last snowfall of the year.

All-season tires for Honda vehicles

What are all-season tires?

All-season tires are tires that are intended to be used in any weather. While summer tires are optimized for warmer driving conditions, and winter tires are optimized for snow and ice, all-season tires are best for a larger variety of conditions. However, they are not as good as summer tires for hot weather and rain or as good as winter tires for heavy snow and ice.

When should I be using all-season tires?

All-season tires are good for a mild year, or you can use them in place of summer tires. We recommend always going with winter tires in the winter months in St. John’s or the surrounding area. All-season tires can handle light snow, but after the first snowfalls of the year, switch to winter tires for added safety.
